I’ve heard that a lot of cheapskate people make furniture out of free discarded pallets. Himself’s store is going to need a lot of storage, so I went online to try to find some plans using this, you know, free resource, and was surprised not to find anything.
Advice? Tips? Not worth it? Resources? (If I need to get a little planer, I can.)
Pallet wood is usually rough, warped, narrow and thin, and often has splits and knots. There are also nail holes every foot or so. I’ve used it for small projects like end tables, but it wouldn’t be my first choice for shelving or storage. For that, I think sheet goods are the best and least expensive.
Norm Abram did this on “New Yankee Workshop”. Of course, he has a planer, to make the boards true, and constant width. Your mileage is probably going to vary a lot.
