Panty Liner Questions. Likely TMI.

Reading the douching thread and seeing a recent comment from a female poster made me contemplate this critical question: do you wear panty liners and if so how often? The female poster said every day. That blows my tiny mind.

I might wear one on a very heavy day during my period, but usually on days white is involved. Otherwise a tampon is fine. I might just wear one on the last day of my period, but only if a tampon would be too much. What’s wrong with a little clean fluid on your panties usually only during ovulation?

What’s wrong with letting each woman decide what works best for her?

I only wear them when I am afraid I might bleed. I don’t mind crusty cervical-mucus residue in my underpants at the end of nearly every day, but I can understand women who do.

Because unless I am missing something on a physical level I think it’s similar to the mindset of female genetalia = ick. It seems very old fashioned.

After pregnancy I can leak a little when I sneeze. Or when my bladder gets too full and I’m holding it. Or when I run, or laugh, or - ok, I leak - sometimes a lot. All the kegals in the world (and I’ve done them now for twelve years) have not stopped it and I haven’t heard good things about the surgery. A panty liner keeps me from smelling like a latrine.

Oh, and for me, it was never really a “little clear mucus” - during ovulation I sometimes had a lot of mucus, very sticky - enough that it could catch and stick to my public hairs. I’m pre-menopausal now, and that’s one of the changes, but sometimes, there was a pretty significant amount of fluid - enough sometimes to show through on pants.

(Oh, and then there is the post sex liner - because nothing is worse than nookie in the morning and having the result running down your leg during a 9:30 meeting.)

Interesting, since I was accused of being a self-hating woman who was border-line abused in the douche thread…

I use “nitetime” pads in conjunction with super-plus tampons during the first 4 days of my period. No other pads, at any time of the month.

If I get something on my underpants, I don’t even really notice.

This isn’t fair. Each and every woman is different and this isn’t any different from those women that tell me that I am anti-woman because I prefer tampons and don’t relish the feel of bleeding, into a pad or more preferably a cloth. (There’s a whole bunch of them - they even have a website). And don’t get me started on the women that think I should love my period, even though it’s just a nuisance to me.

Every woman is different, as I said. I don’t get a lot of mucus and residue. Other women may get way more than their comfort level.

As to the question, I don’t wear panty liners at all.

Do you ever wipe your nose? If so, what is it about your psyche that makes you loathe noses?

I wear one every day. Just keeps my undies and jeans, etc. fresher longer!

I rarely wear liners. By that last little spotty day of my period, even a lite tampon is waaay too much, and I don’t feel like paying for a liner when two squares of TP do the trick. I think the last time I wore liners was when I was traveling and camping, and knew I wouldn’t have clean underwear every day. Wearing liners and changing those out was a good-enough approximation of clean panties!

Before I got on the pill, it was more than just ‘a little.’ It was a lot and annoying. I still wear them right before my period, in case I am out somewhere and it suddenly starts, as I don’t know what hour its going to.

Nothing. Marble-sized gobs of mucus though, that’s annoying. /TMI

I don’t know who told you bad things about the surgery, but my experience was that it was no big deal. Laparascopic, same day, minimal recovery time, symptoms cured.

Several people I’ve talked to have said it hasn’t worked long term for them. I’ve only spoken to one person who said they’d do it again. Two now, if you are saying you would.

I’m not sure why I’m even reading this thread, but this may be the greatest quote I’ve ever seen here.

I don’t mind the crusty cervical mucus, either.

I usually wear them the first couple days of my period (as a back up) and the last day or two when it’s just trickling. Other than that, the only time I’ve worn them for a non-period reason was on my honeymoon. We took the Amtrak from Chicago to New York City and I wasn’t going to take a shower on the train, so I put a pad down the first day and it kept me feeling fresher the second day. (Not to mention that my husband and I were bonking on the train and it kept me from having the jizz-down-my-leg feeling.)

I wear one as a back up to my Keeper (like a DivaCup, but a different brand) on the heaviest two or three days of my period. The Keeper rarely leaks, so most of the time I dispose of a still clean panty liner at the end of the day, but on those rare occasions when my cup runneth over, it’s nice to have!

And we have a new winner!!

I have to know, how did you go about doing this? Did the other people in car stand around and watch?

I assume you had one of those private rooms, but are they really THAT private? I didn’t think the doors could even be locked.

I wear one every day. I hadn’t realized that it was atypical. If I run out or forget, I don’t like the wet and later crusty sensations that result. The runny nose comparison is apt - much less visible, but it still grosses me out. I’ve been doing this since the start of puberty though, so I guess it’s just what I’m used to.
