The DOB is helpful, not only for kids to determine which treatment regimen they need, but also because with a name and date of birth it’s easy to find someone’s medical records at the hospital (assuming said hospital has access and all that).
Anaphylaxis. It should be recognizable, but it’s nice to have something definite to go on. In general, as far as medical hx goes, if there’s something that could cause you to become unconscious, it’d be nice to know- ie. diabetes, seizures. Also, for kids, it’s nice to know that allergy because some more severe problems could be avoided with an early treatment of benadryl.
As an aside, if you call the ambulance in Arvada, you stand a decent chance of getting me.
Thanks to the medics that have already weighed in on this subject! It’s a subject close to my heart since I already wear one. It lists my name, reasons for the bracelet, and a notification of wallet card existence. The card’s got more detailed information including medications and emergency contacts.
Y’know, before I looked into it, I never knew that deafness could be a reason to have a bracelet – most Deaf folks I know don’t seem to bother. Go figure.
(of course, if I ever drop in a public place and I get rolled before the EMTs get there, I’m probably going to have interesting issues. )
