There are photos of a beautiful waterfall when I search Google for images of this place. Apparently this area is rugged and has two mountains near the Grand Canyon. A search of Mt. Trumbull returns images of the waterfall and I’d like to propose to my girlfriend of 4 years there.
The National Park Service website doesn’t mention the waterfall from what I’ve seen.
I’m in Las Vegas at the moment and would like to find this place Monday.
Welllll crap. I don’t mind hiking but I don’t think I’ll take a rental car there. Anyone recommend a scenic site near Las Vegas? Been to Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire. I’m thinking VOF now. Trail of roses to an awkward proposal…
Suggest you see the Grand Canyon/Parashant National Monument, AZ before you see Bryce Canyon and Zion national park. We saw both before the Grand Canyon so we walked out to the observation spot looked out and said yep its a big hole. We might have been more impressed if we had seen it first. What ever you do, do not miss Zion and Bryce…they are to my mind the most magnificent and beautiful places on earth.
It’s a 10 mile hike from the trail head to Havasu Falls so, unless you took a helicopter to the village and hiked the final two miles, you’d probably *kinda *mind it, unless you planned a backpacking trip around it.
Twenty or so years ago,I spent a week camping at the Havasupai reservation. It is a stunningly beautiful place, but as others have noted it’s a bit of a hike to get there. I recall the day we hiked out, it was 126 degrees. I was OK for the first 9+ miles along the canyon floor, but the climb up the switchbacks to the top the canyon nearly did me in. I have never been so tired in all my life than I was that day…
The first time in, I carried my backpack both in and out. The second time, I paid to have the helicopter haul my backpack out while I just hiked out (I may have done the same thing going in too; don’t remember). Wooorrth iiiiit.
I’m engaged. Ended up going to Valley of Fire and proposing at sunset near a spot where we took a picture 2 years ago. The bartender at Zarkana said Mt. Charleston was covered in snow (the roads, not just the mountains) and we came from Minneapolis so I thought sunny and 60 degrees would work. Thanks, everyone.
