Parents - first time your kid laughed?

The first time by oldest child laughed was in the evening after her bath. She was 5 months old. After a nice warm evening bath, I took her out of the tub and wrapped her in a large brown bath towel. I used to call her my little burrito and hoist her up in front of the bathroom mirror so she could say hi to the baby. She smiled her normal big smile and we continued on into the bedroom. After lying her on the bed, I was about to open the lotion when I heard the most delightful little chuckle which turned into several as she reacted to my surprise and delight.

Truly a wonderful sound.

My second daughter, always intent on seeing everything, was sitting on my knee watching her big sister dance to some video on the Disney channel. It was close to Christmas, around her 5 month mark also. The video ended and the oldest started making faces at the baby. Out of nowhere comes this deep belly laugh. Just amazing in it’s utter joy. The kids adore each other totally so it wasn’t too surprising that only the oldest could make the baby laugh for a few weeks.

So do you remember when your child first laughed a real laugh?
