Parking ramps and jackhammers

Ah, the sounds of the big city. Traffic in the streets, people talking on the sidewalks, the pneumatic hammers echoing from the parking ramps-
Say, just what is it about parking ramps? Why is it that there is almost always work being done on one or another ramps within earshot? Is there something about parking ramps that they constantly require maintainance work?

And for those of you not from the upper Midwest, they’re parking garages or parking lots depending upon your locality.

When I dated a Twin Cities woman, she started speaking of “parking ramps” and I looked at her rather quizzically.

I must have been why we broke up.
