I was just diagnosed with the condition of a perverted sense of smell. Apparently this is caused by chronic sinusitis. I’m on my third round of antibiotics and a second round of prednisone.
I’ve not been able to learn much online about this condition, so I’m hoping for some help here.
Everything smells so bad. Everything tastes bad. In spite of that, I’ve gained weight because I’ve been constantly shoving something in my mouth in an attempt to cover the bad taste. But in the last two days, I can barely force anything down because the taste is now so disgusting. And I have a mild itch, especially in my ears.
I go back to the ENT doctor in a little over a week, but in the meantime, can anyone shed any light on this condition? Is it likely to be permanent? Is there anything I can do to ease the symptoms?
Any help would be appreciated. This is really affecting my quality of life in a very bad way. I feel like I’m going to lose my fucking mind and it is wearing me out.
