Party Hosts & Liability

Lets see, the situation in a nutshell revolves around a handful of kooky friends of mine that plan to throw a ‘rave’. Essenentially this entails telling a number of people to meet at a particular intersection in the city at which point they will be guided to a secret abandoned industrial structure where DJs will perform for the evening. Now having seen the warehouse they plan to use, i’m rather concerned regarding the safety of the partygoes, the warehouse is in terrible shape.

I digress: My friends are knowingly tresspassing, but minor offenses aside, are these kids legally responsible if someone should get hurt while attending their free illegal party? Obviously they have gone through the site to make it somewhat viable but I still wouldn’t hesitate to call the space a death trap.

I’m in canada but I imagine US laws are very similar on this issue.

the curiousity is killing me.

The only thing I can think of is dram shop insurance.

no selling of alcohol was to take place.

Yes, possibly even guilty of criminal negligence.

eek. Well forchunately the party went off without a hitch, but I really think they need to re-evaluate their modus operandi.
