Party IV: The game

Okay – I’m about to start PMing folks their quirks – but wanted to get the OP set first, with rules and suchlike.

The rules are simple: guests must post in the voice of their quirks; hosts try to figure out what the quirks are.

There are two teams playing – the guests and the hosts. If the hosts successfully guess all the guests within the allotted time (ten days; we’ll finish up on the evening of November 11th), they win; if the guests succeed in stumping them, with even one guest unguessed, they win.

Guests can talk about whatever they want to, as long as they remain true to their quirks. They can talk to each other; they can talk to the hosts; they can deliver soliloquies.

Each host gets one official guess (made in bold print and labeled “official guess”) per guest, but they are allowed – nay, encouraged – to discuss the guests among themselves before guessing. They may ask as many questions as they want – either specific questions of specific guests (useful when you’re trying to confirm a hunch), or a general topic that everyone can have a go at (useful for getting guests to post enough that you can start looking for patterns).

Any discussion about the game – including guesses you might want to make about a fellow guest’s quirk – should take place in the separate discussion thread, which hosts are forbidden to read.

Okay, the PMs have gone out. If you think you’re playing and didn’t get one, let me know.

Let the Party begin!

scurries around frantically

Is all the food out? Did we remember to vacuum? Do you think we have enough space in this one room or maybe we should spread the party around into several rooms? Oh my God, they’ll be here any minute! I haven’t changed yet!

blinks How’d I end up here? I knew I should have made that left turn at Albuquerque.

Oh well. Where’s the beer?

Hey, Rysto! Looks like we’re destined to be teammates.

Well, everyone, step right on in, and introduce yourselves.

Oh, you didn’t expect to be here? Where did you expect to end up?

Certainly not the South Pole.

I was actually heading to the iron foundry. I’ve had an anvil on order forever.

Hi, I’m Taber. Who are you? What kinds of snacks do you guys have? I enjoy parties, but I hate that I always arrive before others, I never learn to be fashionably late.

Don’t worry Taber, you’re right on schedule. Rysto’s setting up the buffet right now, can I get you a drink while you wait?

The place looks clean. The garbage is out. Did you check in the Knives and Forks?

What company runs that iron foundry, Baffle?

You know, I’m not really sure.

Be careful, Taber. If he offers you coffee or tea, you do not want any lumps. Take my word for it.

That’s for sure, everyone knows you should have Coffee with Cream and Sugar.

So Rysto, are you ready yet?

An anvil, eh? Why do you want one of those? Are you a blacksmith?

On an unrelated note, what’s your favourite kind of melody?

We’re running out already. I’ll go get more now.

Blacksmith! Yeah. That’s exactly right.

Make sure to open the door before you go through it. A Rysto-shaped hole in the wall would be inconvenient.

So you’re not into, say, dropping it onto people’s heads?

[host notes]Baffle’s pretty clearly straight out of Loony Tunes. The Albuquerque comment could indicate that he’s Bugs Bunny.[/hn]

And just what do you take me for? I’ve had more than enough of your desthpicable insthinuationsth!

Official Guess: Baffle is acting like Loony Toons characters.

I’m here. Got any questions for me?

Yupper. And a big ol’ “meep meep” to Baffle.

Remember – if you want to keep posting in this thread after you’ve been guessed, you may – just keep on quirkin’.
