Maybe not an entirely accurate analogy but for the Pit, good enough:
Pat Buchanan is the Lou Holtz of politics. Lou Holtz is the Pat Buchanan of football.
Both have skeletons in their closet. For both of them, the game has passed them by. They both play to victim while trying to nut-punch their enemies. They continually modify their commentary based on who the last winner was. What they predicted, and were probably wrong about, has no bearing on what they said last.
Unfortunately, Lou Holtz now has a bigger pulpit than Buchanan. I can’t figure out why or how.
