I’m doing a little research on the Patriot Act for a class and I could use a little help. I have a lot of information but I specifically want something that can break down point by point the controversial bits. Anyone know of a more succinct or specific reference than the ACLU (pretty vague at times) or firstamendmentcenter.org (too convoluted at times)? I appreciate anything someone knows.
The book Refuge of a scoundrel : the Patriot Act in libraries by Herbert N. Foerstel (ISBN 1591581397) details the more controversial sections of the act in (IIRC) Chapter 2 (and not just the bits that apply to libraries). It’s concise & to the point, IMO.
Skip Chapter 1 which is all about the FBI Library Awarenes program in the 80s.
If you’re not a librarian it might bore you to death.
Gracias.
