Is it true that Paul Winchell, the ventriloquist, also had a degree in biotechnology and was involved in the construction of the artificial heart. His dummy’s name was Charlie McCarthy.
He wasn’t only involved…he invented it…
Edgar Bergen’s dummy was named Charlie McCarthy. I thought Winchell had something called Jerry Mahoney.
BTW…Edgar Bergan was Charlie McCarthy…
Winchell was Jerry Mahoney.
Interesting. I never would have thought that the voice of “Tigger” invented the artificial heart.
Let’s not forget Knucklehead. I’m old enough to remember those two. (three, counting Winchell)
King, are you old enough to remember The Winchell-Mahoney Show?
He was also the voice of the “scrubbing bubbles,” IIRC.
Well, young-uns, I remember the Winchell-Mahoney Show. Loved it! Jerry Mahoney, Knucklehead, that weird character he did by putting a suit on his face and turning his head upside down so that his chin formed a “head” for the character – what was his name? There was also some sort of crow puppet.
The Paul Winchell and Jerry Mahoney Show.
I remember it well.
