So yesterday I picked up the 2 disc reissue of Slanted and Enchanted. It’s been out about a month but I was waiting to see if I got it for xmas. I did not. Anywho, I almost forgot just how much I love Pavement. They single-handedly dragged me into the wonderful world of indie rock.
10 years after the release of the S&E the album is just as unbelievable as the first time I heard it. The remastered versions of the songs are great. They sound much fuller in spots and overall I think the albums volume is higher which is an improvement over the original. As soon as the first notes of “summer babe” began, a smile crept onto my face as the most beautiful music ever released poured through my speakers.
I had all the full lengths Pavement released but never owned the watery, domestic EP. Now I do. OMG it rocks! Stephen Malkmus is the greatest singer to ever sing off key. The peel sessions and live material on the discs are an incredible compliment to S&E and further prove why Pavement was one of the greatest bands ever.
Has anyone else heard the cd yet? I would like to hear your opinions of the reissue. If you weren’t a big fan of the original release, you may want to give it a second chance with this new set of cd’s.
