I have been unemployed for a while now in this current job market and I am really wondering what I can do differently to perhaps find a job, and one of the tactics I never considered until now is one of those pay resume services. Has anyone ever heard anything about one that might actually be legit before I shell out 50-70 for a subscription? Are these just scams like those ads you see in the paper that advertise things like: Earn 300-25,000,000 a week from the privacy of your own home!
If it’s a service that goes over your resume and talks about ways to make it more effective, it could be a good investment. Just be sure they give references and examples of their work.
If it’s a service that supposedly sends out your resume to employers, it’s probably worthless.
Well there are two seperate services that I am skeptical about. First is the one like you said where they claim to send out your resume to prospective employers. Second is where they keep the good job leads under their pay service and give you a couple teasers for free every week such as www.geoweb.com . Usually job search sites charge the employer but maybe there is a market for employers who will save money by posting on a site that charges the prospective employee.
Anyone ever have any real world experience with any of these types of services?
