Pay the sniper to stop?

I know this is way off the OP, but was curious…

Has anyone forwarded the (remote) possibility that the shooter could be a rogue cop, and therefore above suspicion at present?

(s)He seems to be able to disappear just a little to smoothly from the SOC.

Intelligent? Yes. Rational? No. Murdering innocent people is not rational.

Well, the note was found in a police search of the area where the sniper had been when he shot somebody. So either it was the sniper, or it was somebody who managed to sneak a note into the search area when it was surrounded by cops…

I heard on the radio that the police only found it after the sniper told them to go back and get it. The cops missed it on their sweep of the area. Is this true?

I’m strongly of the opinion that the Tarot card has nothing to do with the sniper.

It was found 24hrs after the shooting outside the junior high school. I have not heard anything to indicate the site was sealed off overnight, nor that the students were immediately removed from the area in a way that would preserve evidence.

I have heard that the handwriting on the card doesn’t match that on the recent note.

My conclusion–that some pimply-faced little Junior High School Freak–one that thinks that guns, fire & death are “cool”—some sh***y little Beavis & Butthead clone, planted that there, because the fool thought it would be “cool”.

Oh yeah that will work. No one has tried to get a posse or try to catch this guy yet because there is no profit in it!

You can’t pay this guy 'cause you will encourage copy cats. Also the money is just a jerk around to stall or play with the cops. This fruitloop enjoys what he is doing and must be feeding off his own noteriety.

Money can not be the motivation of this nutcase. Why go through the trouble to hide your moves and cover up your evidence to ask for money that could be traced back to you?

As an aside this case reminds me of the hysteria in the newspapers during the Ripper murders in the 19th century.

If you look at them you will see there were many wild speculations and false reports given. Many unreliable witnesses gave false testimony and the police seemed powerless to catch the guy. The same fear and paranoia existed in the city. Only today the news does this instantly instead of the next morning.

You are forgetting the most important factor of any financial decision and that is risk. If you put your money in a nice safe savings account or govt bond, you are willing to accept a low rate of return of 1-5%. If you are investing $10m in hopes of influencing a psychopath to stop killing people, you expect a lot more return for that investment.

In other words, you don’t pay $10m when it is likely you will simply lose the money and get nothing in return for your trouble.

kingpengvin is right. Money would be better spent on a reward since that is how these guys get caught anyway.

Bosda, I thought they found more tarot cards, or was that a false report?

Suppose he decided that things were getting too risky, and stopped the killing…and at the same time announced to the media that he had been paid the 10 million he asked for…would there be a tremendous uproar? Would anyone believe that he hadn’t been paid off?

On this site is the info you couldn’t get:

Not that I heard.

I vote for the Gary Nelson solution.

Give the sniper Phoenix house.
