PayPal fees?

I can understand perfectly well why paypal and the credit cards prohibit charging any fees to the customer. By doing this they get much more business because the person who makes the decision to use the service is not paying for it.

If Paypal and the credit card services do not allow you to pass the fees to the buyer, then the legal and honest thing to do is to not do it or to not use their services.

Personally I would not buy from a seller who is trying to get around the rules in any way as it does not say much about their honesty.

I’ve had a couple sellers offer to sell me outside of ebay and I reported them immediately. If I ever see someone trying to pull any other prohibited stunt I’ll report them.

Just call it (any fee/extra profit you need to collect) “Dealer Prep” and be done with it (the hassle).

You can call it whatever you want as long as you don’t call it “President of the USA”. That’s not the problem. The problem is, whatever you call it, you have to charge it to all customers equally and cannot charge it only to those who use Paypal.

I think I just emailed customer service. It took 1-2 weeks if I remember. They only let you do it once because they don’t want you jumping back and forth to avoid the fee. Check the differences between the accts - I think if you downgrade then you can’t accept credit cards, but frankly everyone I have dealt with or want to deal with on eBay can pay with PayPal so it hasn’t been a negative for me.

Also, if you downgrade your account, isn’t there a maximum dollar amount of payments that you can accept per month?

A very low one at that. $100 maybe?
