PBS, politics, current events ... potential for bias?

That is a good question.

I think that a lot of the issue is that bias is in the eye of the beholder. When you honestly believe in your heart of hearts that Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity are telling the truth, and that Fox News is the best thing ever, you’re going to perceive just about any other news source as liberal because this other news source doesn’t fit your worldview. It’s just confirmation bias, and Lord knows that the left is similarly afflicted. I consciously know, for example, that Lawrence O’Donnell is a commentator with a point of view, but I’m more likely to trust what he has to say because I agree with him.

On the other hand, there are ways to legitimately quantify bias, but that’s not what the OP wanted to discuss.

Ok, thanks!

Now, now, Shodan doesn’t start threads, he just dumps drive-by snark into them.

I thought snark was witty, by definition.

Checking top of page: Yep, we’re in the Pit. So, much as I might wish he posted half as much as he does, he’s doing it in the right place.

Your evidence in support of this claim is unimpeachable.

He’s not a news reporter. He’s a commentator.

Then it’s a meaningless bet.

I was simply responding to your OP.

Not looking for evidence or proof…just honest opinions. Thought Elections was a better place than IMHO…clearly somebody wanted it in the Pit whether it belonged there or not. But I rant…

.

Commentators don’t have potential for bias? But I rant…
.

With a response focused solely on The News Hour ignoring other programming that I thought was pretty clearly a part of the OP.

I did invite info on other shows or prominent faces that support the possibility of fair and balanced programming, commenting, reporting, analysis … didn’t notice any responses to that.

I will admit that the few times I’ve seen The News Hour it did suggest more fairness than the three major networks…I will grant you that.

You could at least admit that you didn’t read or comprehend your cite before changing the subject.

… or you could have answered my question about who asks the questions on those Sunday Morning Shows before deflecting it.

I can think of one major network that is pretty tight with the D’s but I’d prefer not to encourage the subject change.

Watch the things yourself and decide using your own brain. Objectivity is about how they do their job, not how they vote.

Commentators are paid for their biases. They offer opinions on political matters.

Subject change? You brought it up, knucklehead.

I’m out. you guys have fun.

Crucifixion is a really negative way to kill yourself man, I’ve tried it before loads of times, there’s no way you can hammer in the last nail.

Agreed… now scan the schedule of your local PBS affiliate and find me a daily show with the name of a commentator that you think might be a Republican.

Rose…maybe; but I doubt it. Smiley …doubt it. Moyers… ya right.

But I rant …

Did it ever cross your mind that someone may frequently “pull the lever” for a particular political party, yet even then, even then, remain a professional, and leave their political bias at the door?

In your mind, if one votes for a party, does this automatically brand them as a rabid partisan, who will stop at nothing to promote the ideals of their chosen party?

If you’re looking for bias in reporting, I would think your first line of evidence would have to be “is there bias in reporting among news people”, rather than “what nefarious thoughts are the news people secretly thinking”

I forget to do the feet first-how embarrassing.

Why not just the feet and one hand, leaving the other hand available to masturbate like a motherfuck?

Or just start ridiculous threads here, which is basically the same thing.

What commentary by Charlie Rose do you think is biased?

That’s not the question. The question is who do you think he voted for three years ago?

Golly, an environment as friendly as this one and you run away? There are alot of friends here who will surely help you if you want to stick around.

My OP … re PBS

Your response …Sunday Shows are favorable to Republicans with a cite

My respoonse… your cite refers to the guests in the middle of a heated R primary season, look at the hosts not the guests

Your repsonse…ignore everything above and ask about the evil 1% that control the networks
