PC Game Recommendations, please

You can also play games on Steam for two hours and then return them for a full refund. I would suggest not pushing the whole two hours (one minute over and that’s it…no refund) so set a timer to get you to stop after 100 minutes or so. You have to pay up front but you can try the game and if you do not like it you get your money back.

That said I think Steam will take issue if you do that a lot but certainly worth a go on some few that look good.

BlueInfinity, looking at your other posts so far and your requirements, I think you’d probably be better steering clear of studio-made games, which have to pay the bills somehow, and looking for stuff like RPGMaker-made fan games. Lots of single player RPGs with old-school graphics out there, and many are free. Quality varies wildly of course, but there are some shockingly good quality ones out there.

My favorite was The Way, but it’s also 10 years old at this point and I’m sure there are more ones out there.

Thanks for the help, but I consider the matter closed at this time. I don’t need to make this experiment right now, I was just curious.

Sorry mate, there’s basically nothing that fits your criteria. You can get really, really cheap “classic” single-player games via GOG.com (it’s legitimate), though.

If you don’t mind multiplayer then World of Tanks/Warships/Warplanes are free to play and specifically and legitimately designed that you can still do well without buying anything. Also, Hearthstone is free but the expansion card decks cost money.

Otherwise, there’s a lot of old DOS-era single-player games on the Internet Archive which you can play via an on-site emulator in your browser window for free.

Ah–didn’t realize that! I played it a bit a few years ago, and either those things weren’t available back then, or I wasn’t paying attention :).
