PC Game similar to Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

Any recommendations?

Um… much as I hate to say it… Rollercoaster Tycoon 1?

Theme Park and its offspring are pretty good.

That might not be such a bad suggestion. Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2 are so similar in nature that if you enjoyed either one, you’ll probably enjoy the other. Give it a try. Each also has a few expasion packs:

RT 1: Loopy Landscapes
RT 1: Corkscrew Follies

RT 2: Wacky Worlds
RT 2: Time Twister

Happy (non-violent) gaming!

We’ve completed (and loved!) RC1 and 2, which is why we’re looking for something similar.

The only other “tycoon” game I’ve heard good things about is Railroad Tycoon. Are you looking for a management-type game or was it more the theme-park and ride-design that you liked?

My adhd daughter can spend hour upon hour playing “zoo tycoon” I like it too. We also bought the expansions. The water expansion is cool, I am not so keen on the dinasaur expansion, but she likes it.

If it’s ride design you’re after, look into Disney’s Coaster. Best Buy or somewhere might still have a few for around $15.

Just wait a few months…RCT 3 is coming out soon, and it will have the ability to ride your creations and view the park in 3D. If you are into just designing really realistic rollercoasters, try No Limits which is probably the most realistic rollercoaster simulation on the planet. It takes forever to get really realistic rides, but they’re amazing. Plus, good coaster trading sites like CoasterSims allow you to download others creations if you don’t feel like designing your own.

Recently released Vega$ Tycoon ?

I’m afraid that if you want something similar to Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, you’re going to be disappointed. There is plenty out there, but other ‘tycoon’ style games are generally rather mediocre, either creativity crushing, disturbingly complicated, or both. They also have a tendency to be riddled with bugs, and made by obscure European companies that mysteriously vanish and take their support with them. Furthermore, 3D graphics were not made for intricate strategy titles, but this doesn’t stop companies from trying. As pointed out, some of the best tycoon games are far too outdated. I’ll back up the recommendation for Vegas Tycoon, thought that’s based purely on reviews I’ve read. Some excellent, but non-tycoon, creative strategy games can be found in the Sims, Sim City and Civilization series (though the last one will eat your life for breakfast).

I’ll vote for ZooTycoon as well!

Thanks for all of your suggestions.

We looked at both Vegas and Zoo Tycoon last night at Wallyworld but weren’t sure if they would measure up to RCT2. I’d better get my checkbook out

Moving this to Cafe Society.

If you consider November “soon”.
