PC games GF and I can play together online

I’m looking for suggestions for games that my girlfriend and I can play online together.

She plays games like bejeweled and mah jong (sp?).

I’ve played almost every type of game.

So, looking for something maybe a bit more complex than the games she’s played that has an online format (not necessarily a world with many others, just a way for us to play online together (not against) ).

i dont want a puzzle game, myself. maybe an simple rts (not complex like starcraft) or a simple rpg.

maybe a simple turn-based strategy game??? suggestions??

thanks.

Well, I’ve gotten 130 hours of mileage out of Civilization V, mostly multiplayer with my friends and brother. Another option might be Portal 2, which has an interesting co-op mode.

Bejeweled and mah jong sound like casual games. I think she may not be used to any RTS or RPG with a steep learning curve. There are lots of casual games on Facebook. I think there’s Bejeweled Blitz? And a lot of people seem to be playing Candy Crush. The strange thing is a lot of games on FB (e.g. Sims) seem to specifically deny you from playing from long periods, preferring you to play in short bursts.

Moved to the Game Room.

Check out minecraft. You 2 can play in creative mode, building houses, gardens, etc together.

Try Torchlight 2. It’s a hack and slash dungeon crawler, and it’s easy to just jump in, you basically just run around and kill anything that moves. It’s basically Gauntlet with modern graphics. The RPG element isn’t too deep or complicated.

Star craft 2 is pretty simple - as long as you’re not trying to beat a Korean eSports star or something

You build structures, and those structures provide you with units, then you go in with those units and attack. Co-op against the AI should be fun and easy.

I would recommend Portal 2, followed by Trine 2 - it’s a fun little platformer, with gorgeous graphics, and it’s usually cheap on Steam. You can play local co-op or online. Similar to that there is The Cave. Another great little indie platformer/puzzle game.

I’d recommend City of Heroes, but that world is now ended.

I 2nd minecraft. It’s a brilliantly fun cooperative game for two or more people to play online together, and it’s fun for both casual gamers like her and hardcore gamers like you.

downloading minecraft and torchlight 2, thanks.

i should also mention the specs of the lower-end computer:

AMD Brazos 18W: E350 (2C,1.6G)
AMD Radeon™ HD 6470M
4 gb ram

will minecraft and torchlight 2 run well? portal im guessing needs more juice.

thats 6gb ram ^^

The good thing about this generation of consoles lasting so long is that pretty much anything will run on anything now a days.

That 6470M will run halflife 2 on medium-high at like 200 FPS

So you’re good with any of those games running at low to high depending on the game.

Puzzle Pirates - a free mmo that has battles that involve tetris style puzzles.

It is co-op and has puzzle style play.

Hope it is up your (and yours) alley.

trying to stray from puzzle games actually. thanks tho.

Yeah, that was my first thought too. :frowning: Plenty of couples played that.

How about racing games? My wife never plays games, but I actually got her to play some Dirt 2 for a while.

She doesn’t find it too difficult? I’m at least an average-skilled gamer and I find DiRT 2 to be quite …challenging.

Maybe you’d like Magicka? It’s pretty simple (WAY Simpler than a Torchlight or something), but has good co-op and it’s kinda silly.

Oh she sucked. But she still had fun. We weren’t really competing with each other, just having fun racing around with others online.

She also liked playing the single player quite a bit, with all the driving helpers turned on.
