I’m attempting to hook up a friends laptop to my Mac’s DSL line. Mac has a manual IP…I know all the settings…blah blah… His machine is IBM thinkpad. My DSL connection is set up for a static IP address(cannot use DHCP server). We are trying to replicate theMac ISP values to his Windows configuration but canot find correspondig gateway settings on the iMAC and don’t know what to do with his WINSconfiguration(no MAC correspondance). Please help!
As for the gateway settings, they should be clear as day in the TCP/IP control panel. I believe it says ‘default gateway’ (not at my Mac right now, though, so I’m not sure.)
Does the DSL connection use PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet?) If it does, make sure you have a PPPoE driver on your Windows machine, and make sure you replicate the settings from the Mac PPPoE control panel. If it does use PPPoE, the gateway and nameserver may be configured automatically by that.
