Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Trolls

You know… for all that we wish for peace on Earth, I think it’s generally accepted that as long as people are… well, human… there will not be any lasting periods of peace in the world.

Is this a good analogy to the liklihood of this board not having any deliberately irritating posters for a lasting period of time? Is it simply the nature of being a public board that guarantees a troll hit with frequency? Or is a Golden Age of SDMB a realistic possibility?

Where there is intelligent conversation, trolls will be there.
Wherever liberty is discussed, there will be a troll.
Wherever ignorance is banished, trolls will be there to prove there is a continuing mission.
