A petition for peace???..ahhh Are you a part of
Bin Ladens organization, by any chance?
Because, I’d be petioning for peace to if I were associated with him or any other terrorist organization.
I, too, think that a position of “no retaliation” would surely encourage more terrorist strikes. Put yourself in the mindset of a man who wants to destroy America at any cost… if you were able to act with impunity, wouldn’t you?
How come I keep following SPOOFE into threads? I feel like a sniffer dog…
Should we mention what you look like?
IMHO, electronic petitions aren’t worth the electrons they’re printed on, because nobody pays attention to them. It is standard policy in most governmental offices to automatically delete such e-mail, because they are too easily faked.
[TriumphtheInsultComicDog]This is a great petition . . . for me to poop on!![/TriumphtheInsultComicDog]
Warning to Dopers! Never read a Bluepony post while eating breakfast!
Say what you will about the OP’ers other recent actions on this board, and the efficacy of e-petitions, but I’ve seen this one on hard copy, and I signed it.
There has been a frieghtening tendency towards an innapropriate amount of militarization after this tragedy, as well as vague concerns over loss of civil liberties.
To his credit, Bush has resisted both impulses so far. I never would have said it a month ago, and I may very well disown this staement a month later, but he is becoming a president I can become proud of. (Unfortunate naming aside, “Infinite Justice” indeed :rolleyes).
Nevertheless, it’s important to tell our leaders that we’re we not be motivated by bloodlust and revenge, and we won’t trade our freedom for security. They may already know this, but it never hurts to remind them.
