Peak oil storage

(Not sure which forum this belongs in. I ask questions, but I don’t really expect answers, so probably not GQ.)

From here.

This is talking about oil storage. What happens if they fill it all up? And then fill all the tankers (ships)?

This is a problem caused by Saudi Arabia opening the taps and pumping as much oil as they can. And Russia is doing the same. Demand is way down because of the epidemic. A triple whammy to the oil market.

Shale oil production (fracking) companies are going to go bankrupt and Canadian tar sand production is already in severe decline (and I’m not going to shed a single tear for either) and undoubtedly other high cost sources will stop pumping. But what’s Aramco going to do when they have no more empty oil tankers to fill up?

Uhhh…stop pumping?

Nah, that’d be way too obvious a tactic. Maybe they’ll find a depression in the desert and fill it up with crude.

One word: Plastic.

Dump it outside of the environment

Is this a “the front fell off” reference?

“Depression In the Desert”

You’ve nailed it!
