This is fairly accurate, but not technically true. There have been baseball games that have lasted over the course of different days, though it isn’t common at all, as I understand it is in cricket (a sport I know NOTHING about).**

This subject reminds me of a brilliant novel by W.P. Kinsella, The Iowa Baseball Confederacy. It is about a game the Cubs play with a bush league team of amateurs that winds up lasting 2,000 innnings.

Baseball fantasy, of course, but W. P. Kinsella writes like a dream, and I just had to recommend it.

Ragarding the OP, it makes me realize how Americentric I am. I read that, and thought to myself “How can anyone not know what a forced run on balls is?” Then I read that the poster is from Ireland, and felt like a twit.

No baseball, but there’s a new Ice hockey rink/cineplex/science centre open in Belfast, the Odyssey centre thats brought Ice Hockey into the public eye a bit more (although the team apparently is all Canadian.) I don’t mind watching baseball the odd time the only problem is the time its shown on TV over here.
