Peanuts by Charles Bukowski

Remember when we did the “What if LOTR had been written by someone else?” Here’s Peanuts (Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, etc.) as written by Charles Bukowski.

Love the second page, sopwith camel.

Thanks, Derleth. I’ll never look at a Peanuts strip the same way again.

Brilliant! And I say this as a Bukowski and “Peanuts” fan.

I almost wet myself laughing at these.

That dude is channeling Henry Chinowski so closely it’s a little scary. Awesome

Brilliant! I rarely send web links to friends, but I’ll have to make an exception and send this to my Bukowski worshipping friends.

As a huge Peanuts fan since I was a little kid, I have to say, this is awesome. I love stuff like this – like the “The Time of the Great Pumpkin” sketch in Robot Chicken or the play (the name I forget) where the Peanuts characters are troubled teenagers.

Who’s Charles Bukowski?

Now that was funny!

[Charles Bukowski seems to be wildly popular these days. It’s a rare poster on Good Reads who gives any book of his less than 5 adoring stars. Will somebody who loves him please explain why? I’m clearly missing something.]

koeeoaddi, how much Bukowski have you read?

Well, I’ve read a fair number of his poems (none of his novels, though).

Well I don’t know what rings your bell, but I’ve always found that the books are more enjoyable than most of the poetry. They’re mostly thinly veiled autobiographies about a grown man who indulges the inner adolescent in a gritty, sad, and sometimes sociopathic way. They’re interesting and repulsive at the same time, and the prose is just beautiful.

Charles Bukowski rules!

A poet and a novelist. From that entry:

It’s a good idea to read the article at the other end of the Footnote link.
