I was reading a book of short stories recently, and it had one of the characters adding peanuts into his Pepsi. The story took place in Georgia. Is this some type of southern thing? Has anyone tried it? Does it taste good? What kind of peanuts are used - dry roasted, salted, unsalted?

BTW, I remember some old cop show in which Russell “The Professor” Johnson played a bad guy. One of the clues somehow related to his liking peanuts in his soft drink.
I have seen this quite a bit here in Miss. However, most of the time it’s Coke, not Pepsi. As in “co-coler”. The nuts are usually the kind you get in a little sleeve at the store.
Does it taste good? I’ve never tried it. Some people love it.
I like it - used to put peanuts in my diet coke in high school. Yep, and I don’t know why, but the salty flavor really adds something to the coke, be it cocola, pepsy or arceecola.
Test it - get some roasted salted peanuts and an ice cold Coca-Cola. Chew several peanuts then wash it down with a sip of cola. Trust me - It’s good!
