How could I have forgotten this one? :smack:
Blondie did a rock cover of Johnny Cash’s country hit “Ring of Fire.”
Pretty good, too.

The cover of Friday I’m in Love is particularly disturbing. My local NPR station uses it as bumper music during the 7:40 AM station ID break on Friday mornings, and I’ve learned to tune away just because I’m afraid of losing consciousness at freeway speeds during my commute to work.
Luther Wright and the Wrongs have a full bluegrass redo of Pink Floyd’s The Wall: Sample - Luther Wright & The Wrongs Another Brick In The Wall Part 1 - YouTube
Silver Jews - Gin and Juice: a great lo-fi girl band cover that I can find no videos of online
Robert DeLong doing an EDM cover of Miss You: X96 Lounge X: Robert DeLong "Miss You" - YouTube
Dynamite Hack’s Boyz in the Hood - - YouTube
Ethyl Meatplow did a great version of Close to You but I cannot find a video of that
Then there’s this: Sexy Public Domain Songs with Craig Robinson - YouTube
Luther Wright and the Wrongs do a fantastic re-interpretation of Pink Floyd’s The Wall. I’ve seen it called a bluegrass version of The Wall but I would consider it to be country as not all the songs are straight up bluegrass.

Royals sung by Puddles,“a 7 foot tall sad clown with a voice like Tom Jones.”
a bit older, but Scissor Sisters did a disco-esque version of Comfortably Numb
Check out the rest of the channel that Puddles is on, Postmodern Jukebox has a lot of awesome covers done in different vintage styles.
ok, nevermind, this Puddles cover/mashup is definately wierder than the other I posted, or the previous Puddles link
“Coverville” is a podcast dedicated to cover songs.

I’m not as well-versed in music as most here and I actually first saw this used on Glee but I think it fits.
Smooth Criminal on cello.
I love Foxes swing jazz take on Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now. Originally off a Doctor Who episode.
My personal favourite, though, is The Puppini Sisters covering Wuthering Heights in a 1940s close harmony Andrews Sisters style; the arrangement kicks arse, and some serious singing chops here.
Paul Anka singing a lounge version of Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun. Smooth as silk.
Jazz oboe. I GET A KICK OUT OF YOU & OTHER COLE PORTER SONGS - OBOMAN - YouTube And I also giggled because here’s this French guy playing the English horn, godiamsuchamusicalgeek.
There’s also this guy Michael Rabinowitz who plays jazz bassoon. Really really really well, he’s fabulous. GREG BOBULINSKI QUARTET W/ Jazz Bassoonist MICHAEL RABINOWITZ * HOW HIGH THE MOON circa 1997 - YouTube
Yeah, I know Bird didn’t do it this way but he could have.
There’s a cover I heard once and would like to find:
Bette Midler covered “Bette Davis Eyes”. Not really weird or anything, but the tone she gave it was hilarious. Instead of the rough-edged feel of the Kin Carnes version, she was making fun of the object of the song, rather sarcastically.
