Pedophiles Vs. First Ammendment

Sick Bastards

I don’t even know where to start on this one.

I guess I’ll begin by baring my soul and admitting that my SO and I enjoy reading “adult” stories. We usually find the written word to be more erotic than most of the other media since it allows imagination to come into play.

Tonight as we were looking for a “bedtime story”, we stumbled across a site that ruined our night. This just totally sucks shit. (Link to follow)

Now I’m probably one of the most liberal people you could ever meet and I believe in free speech, but this is beyond the envelope. Considering the child pornography laws on the books, Isn’t this illegal?

The worst part is that it isn’t even a protected site, anyone using “sex” and “stories” in the same search can find it. I’m seriously considering forwarding the link to some law enforcement agency, but I don’t know where to send it.

Ok, Heres the link, but I’m telling you… IT SUCKS, it involves the rape of a toddler. I just want to know if you think this shit should be protected by free speech or not.

God help me, I sound like a book burner. But right now, I feel like one. I wish I had their balls in one hand and a knife in the other!
This is the story I’m talking about : deleted
And this is the site (more of the same crap): deleted

Holy sweet living shit. I’m in the process of clearing my cache and all remaints of that.

I’m speechless. I could only imagine what I’d feel if I had kids.

Holy Shit, I feel ill.

I’ve read some horrible stuff eg. Charles Buchowski but that is just beyond description. What kind of degenerate fuck would write/read that shit.

God, that was disgusting. That link will probably get deleted.

Should the first amendment protect that crap? Yes… but only because I disapprove of any government involvement in censorship issues.

Ugh, I’m flushing my cache, too. Right now.

I feel the same way.

I have two daughters and it made me sick. I hope I gave enough warning before anyone looked. This kind of sick shit needs to at least be behind a firewall instead of being readily accessable to any kid with a keyboard (Including me, and I’m 46 yrs. old)

So, does anyone know if it’s illegal, and who would you report it to?

If that shit’s not illegal it fucking should be.

I feel that all speech should be protected, no matter how repugnant.

That being said, I have to admit I haven’t looked at the link, nor do I intend to. I suppose someone might argue that unless I actually look at it, I shouldn’t make a judgment.

My opinion is that if after viewing it I change my mind and believe that it shold be banned, that decision came from an emotional response, and not what is “right” (whatever that might be).

I just reported it to http://www.asacp.org in hopes they will fix the prob. I don’t know if it has any pics on it, but if it does, don’t expect it to be around much longer.

I’ve deleted the links.

I don’t think I need to explain why.

Euty - Thanks.

Freedom of speech only goes so far. We all know that. There is some shit that should never see the light of day and this seems to be that kind of shit nobody needs.

I disagree. As long as someone’s personal liberty is not being violated free speech should protect it. That said, anyone who writes a sexual story involving a toddler is a sick fuck and is going to Hell, even though I don’t believe in Hell.

I like erotic stories too, and have accidentally stumbled accross this shit on newsgroups. What a bunch of degenerate sickos. (Keep in mind, there is an audience for this type of stuff.)

Friedo, although I agree with you in principal I reckon anybody who can sit down and imagine that sort of depravity is a threat to everyone’s liberty. Shit like that shouldn’t be on the net.

I think that shit like posts by Gomez shouldn’t be on the intenet.

Who decides?

What is the line?

I have no time for toddler porn (as it was called above; I was not here to see the linked stories), but I have less time for taking away freedoms because we don’t like what’s being said.

I do my part by not having sex with toddlers, or attempting to look at pictures or read stories about same.

And if all of us did this, it wouldn’t exist.

The problem, to me, isn’t that there’s stuff on the internet. It’s that people would want to see things like that whether it was or not.

Yer pal,
Satan - Commissioner, The Teeming Minions

*TIME ELAPSED SINCE I QUIT SMOKING:
Five months, three weeks, 18 hours, 22 minutes and 31 seconds.
6990 cigarettes not smoked, saving $873.83.
Extra time with Drain Bead: 3 weeks, 3 days, 6 hours, 30 minutes.

*“I’m a big Genesis fan.”-David B. (Amen, brother!)

I agree with Satan (By the way, I get a little thrill just out of typing that :)).

As abhorent as that sort of crap might be, the freedom of speech / expression must be protected. It is a classic slippery slope, where do you draw the line? True crime? “Ordinary” sex stories? Sailor Moon (hey, it’s got the boom anime that used to make me think the wrong thing. . .)

Oh come on Gomez. The real threat isn’t posting stories like that on the web, but acting them out IRL. Do you honestly think you can prevent the latter by banning the former?

In fact I think one could argue that it’s better to allow paedophiles freedom of speech because it makes it easier to identify and keep an eye on them.

I don’t think any child porn is covered under freedom of speech-it’s all illegal.

Except that a story is entirely fictional. Child porn necessarily involves the exploitation of an actual child, and it is (and should be) illegal for THAT reason. Nobody is being harmed when someone writes a story with said subject matter.

Again, I find such material abhorent, but no one’s liberty has been violated.

I didn’t see the link, for which I’m not exactly sorry, but I take it from friedo’s post that it was a fictional story rather than pictures of a real event. That being the case, I have to side with those who say it should be protected. Otherwise, we are censoring people for having “bad thoughts”–with good intentions, no doubt…but I think we all remember what road is paved with good intentions.

Sorry, folks, but I am rabidly opposed to giving the Thought Police any comfort.

You know, these arguements against 1st or 2nd Amendment Rights always amuse me. “Congress shall make NO law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech.”

It seems pretty clear to me. No law. None. Zero.

Except it isn’t that clear. We have laws against slander and defamation, and we have child pornography laws. All of these exist because it is obvious to most sensible people that constitutional liberties can only be extended as far as NOT violating another person’s equal rights. The problem often comes in defining where one’s rights end and the other’s begin.

I made the same assumption from the description given in the OP. (the link was deleted before I got here)

There was a recent case putting the First Amendment to the test involving kiddie porn fiction. Turns out the guy had written all the stories the Feds found on his computer himself. Since they could not find any other evidence the guy posessed any “real” porn and that he had, indeed, made up the stories (no real kids ever entered into the picture as “inspiration”) they had to let him go. Of course, I’m sure the Feds are keeping an eye on him.
