Peggy Lipton dead at 72

RIP

From wiki: Margaret Ann “Peggy” Lipton (August 30, 1946 – May 11, 2019) was an American actress and model. Lipton became an overnight success through her best-known role as flower child Julie Barnes in the ABC counterculture television series The Mod Squad (1968–1973) for which she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama in 1970. Her fifty-year career in television, film, and on stage[1] included many roles, most notably that of Norma Jennings in David Lynch’s surreal Twin Peaks. Lipton was married to the musician and producer Quincy Jones and was mother to their two daughters, Rashida Jones and Kidada Jones, who also became actresses.

“One white, one black, one blonde”

RIP Peggy! :frowning:

NM. RIP Julie Barnes.

Oh. She was still acting right up to recently, she even played Angie Tribeca’s mother, appropriately.

She was wonderful in Twin Peaks and I was glad to see her character get a happy ending. RIP, Peggy.

Peggy was one of my first crushes on Mod Squad. I was still quite young but I never missed an episode.

I didn’t see her in any other roles.

RIP

I remember Julie for lines like “Hey, dig the police brutality!” and “He’s desperate. He might do anything!”

I wish they would put ***Mod Squad ***on my favorite Retro channel when Mission: Impossible ends. I could use another good laugh in the afternoon.

I think every guy my age had a crush on her back when.

Huh. I had no idea she was Rashida Jones’s mother.

The first time I saw Rashida Jones in any role that I remembered was in Celeste and Jesse Forever, which she co-wrote and co-starred in. My reaction to seeing her name in the credits was that she must be the only white woman in the U.S. with the name Rashida. There was no discussion of anyone’s race in that movie. When I looked her up in Wikipedia, I discovered that she was the daughter of Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones. Yeah, all this may just show that I don’t know as much as I think I do about who’s who in Hollywood.

I absolutely loved Mod Squad. One of the first shows with a female detective.

Aw, man! Had a massive crush on her. Sad!
