One character says that, the other says “Judge Judy”. Google “Judy Judy and executioner”, it’s a perfectly cromulent phrase.
is not
And a Google search of ‘Judy Judy and executioner’ brings up a whole lotta references to ‘judge Judy and executioner’.
But this is getting far off track for this thread.
Do you not see what your autocorrect continues to do? It’s not a big deal, but that’s what people were pointing out to you. Your autocorrect is typing out “Judy Judy and executioner.” That is most definitely not a phrase that anyone has ever said.
Ah well, carry on.
The latest developments:
Dang, Pete! You’re gonna make that man’s name a household word and persecute him right into the White House in 2028, if you’re not careful…
On second thought… Go Pete!
Yes, I think this will be the “Have you no decency” moment for much of the country.
I’ve lost hope in such a moment. Remember, McCarthy’s popularity had already fallen considerably before that, so it was less a turning point than a coup de grâce.
I think we have that moment, but the answer is, “No, we don’t, what’re you gonna do about it?”
“If permitted to stand, the Secretary’s censure and the grade-determination proceedings that he has directed will inflict immediate and irreparable harm,” the lawsuit says. “The censure, the grade-reduction process, and its inevitable outcome impose official punishment for protected speech, chill legislative oversight, and threaten reductions in rank and pay.”
Go get ‘em Mark!
Even though he has overwhelming support on the Dope, I should point out that someone on NextDoor made a post about him, and there were a LOT of comments that called him a traitor. So- it’s not a slam-dunk that everyone thinks Hegseth is wrong.
That’s good news. Hopefully the Court can provide him a remedy.
From what I can gather from the article it looks like Kelly is putting on his senator “hat” and saying as a Senator he has different speech rights and/or legislative immunity.
The article also mentions Hegseth saying Kelly had a “pattern of conduct”. I thought it was just the one video at issue? All BS, but just wondering what else Hegseth is making up.
Are you referring to this?
I don’t take that to suggest either different rights or special immunity. Rather it’s highlighting that an additional implication of infringing his free speech rights is that Hegseth is trying to bully him from exercising his Constitutional responsibility to oversee the Executive.
This is the paragraph I saw in the article:
The lawsuit filed on Monday says the activity Hegseth points to in his letter of censure are “quintessential legislative and oversight activity,” and lie at the core of “the long-recognized immunity for legislative acts.” The suit also says Kelly is protected by a law which establishes immunity for legislative activity, and that Hegseth’s action “erodes the separation of powers” by punishing a sitting Senator “through military proceedings for his political speech.”
Ah, I see what you mean. I think it’s right, but it goes further than I realized.
I think part of it is the “pattern of conduct”. I’m only aware of one thing but I’m guessing the lawsuit is responding to several things Kelly allegedly did/were problematic (as Senator). Again all distorted BS I’m positive, but the lawsuit has to address what Hegseth wrote.
I’ll pull the actual lawsuit tomorrow and see.
