People defending Graham Platner are pathetic and intellectually bankrupt

Sigh. People made the argument to you over and over, and you just plugged your ears and refused to acknowledge it. People literally wished they could put you on ignore over it.

You had seemed to avoid joining the “I’m gonna use rape accusations as an excuse to say I was right about the Nazi tattoo” bullshit.

Nothing about that argument has changed. Your one line posts designed to get under people’s skins didn’t suddenly become correct.

The argument that he didn’t know was that he said he didn’t know. The argument that he was honest about that claim was that he said he was honest. That’s a really stupid argument.

He’s wrong.

At a certain point supporting him became stupid, yes. And impractical and conducive to the fascists winning and our side losing.

No, just biased and engaging in poor reasoning like the Trumpists. I thought we were better than that.

It’s not very personal. If you–or anyone else–was supporting Platner after the tattoo story came out (which was accompanied by much other evidence of his character, such as bad and embarrassing online posts), you were being stupid. It’s not a complete invalidation of you as a person; it means you were wrong in this one case.

Exactly. Don’t be mutherfucker with a literally criminal past and run for high office and be dumb enough to think you’re going to get away with it! FFS.

WTF, it’s clear that he did lie. There are multiple people saying that he bragged about the tattoo and knew what it was.

Regardless, you know what the horns of a dilemma are, right? Either he knew and lied, or he was such a dumbass that he had this on his body for decades and didn’t know. Any documentary about the Holocaust has nazis walking around with this thing on their hats. I knew exactly what it was by the time I was 12 or 13. And if you want to insist that the average dude still wouldn’t know that, keep in mind that this dumb mutherfucker is running for the Senate. Maybe have some fucking knowledge before you do that!

This being prima facie evidence that everyone else must also know!

Knowledge of WWII insignia being a prerequisite for election to the Senate of course.

I consider it to be something that a decently educated person would know, yes.

I mind it very much, which is why I want Platner to stay in the race. If he drops out, she wins.

Baseless accusations about fictional rapes and questionable tattoos are not “the truth”. The truth about Platner is that he broke the Democrats’ eleventh commandment - Thou shalt not win a primary unless it is thy turn. I can’t WAIT until someone leaks the mass email the DNC sent out yesterday that says “You will receive your signal to unendorse Platner tomorrow, do so immediately or we pull your funding”.

If you don’t want to keep losing elections you’re gonna have to start learning to love scumbag candidates.

Why not? It worked for the president.

Thank you. You are making my point about stooping to the level of the Trumpists.

Your arguments in this thread are an embarrassment. The things that Platner has admitted to alone are enough to label him a scumbag (such as sexting six women right after he got married, as well as many awful online posts). You just don’t have any ground to stand on here.

Exchange on “Morning Joe” three weeks ago after the sexting story broke:

BRZEZINSKI: Okay, so you say there’s nothing out there that could be concerning. And this may seem a little bit rich—

PLATNER: Let me just make this clear. There’s nothing out there that’s actually concerning.

LMFAO, this guy is such a liar. And terrible at it at that!

Yeah, we are. She told a bunch of people about it before he ran for office.

And also, two women with similar stories are about ten times as persuasive as one woman. People don’t usually do this kind of thing once.

I’m certainly hoping that’s what happens.

The timing is good for the Democrats. It’s before the deadline for him to be replaced.

No, rape is worse than having a tattoo that is associated with Nazism. Actually being a Nazi is worse than either of those.

We need more scumbags on our side. The Republicans have embraced scumbags for years and they’re eating our lunch while we sit here trying to play by Queensbury rules. “When they go low, we go high” is a failed experiment. It’s time to do things the Chicago way if we’re going to be serious about defeating the fascists.

Which is how you can tell it’s a DNC ratfuck.

Correct. There’s nothing out there, because this accusation is a hoax.

You’re right about them not playing by any rules, except those that serve their own fascist cause, but you’re wrong about the effect of our having scumbags.

The fascists will tolerate their own scumbags but viciously attack ours, and they will be effective at this. Meanwhile, our having scumbags will discredit us to those who truly are on the fence. Meanwhile, we will feel like scum ourselves for tolerating the scumbags, as we are people who really do have principles.

C’mon dude. You have no reason to say that with any level of confidence, and quite frankly it seems like trolling at this point.

It is known that the woman told others about it at a time when Platner was not running for anything. Further, it fits his established and self-admitted behavior. Drunken misbehavior? Check. Abuse of women? Check.

This isn’t some “swell fellow” with a stellar background about whom one thing that could easily be a lie has been said. He’s a loutish, stupid, drunk, lying, womanizing, abusive, smash-mouthed fucking idiot. Defending him at this point makes you look like a jackass yourself.

But, in your next two posts, just moments later, you said:

So, in one breath, you seem to acknowledge that Platner may well be a scumbag, but in your next breath, you insist that he’s being unfairly accused of scumbag behavior, and that the accusation is being engineered by the Democratic Party.

You are so, so very desperate for the Democrats to win that seat that you are willing to say and believe anything, even if you contradict yourself.

So did the woman who told Rolling Stone she was gang-raped by seven fraternity pledges at UVA. Remember that? It turned out the entire thing was an elaborate lie she concocted to explain away an imaginary boyfriend she’d made up to impress her friends. Wouldn’t surprise me if this story had the same kind of origin.

He’s not running to marry my daughter. He’s running to punch fascists in the face. That’s what I care about.
