Anyone watch the season opener of Perception?
How much of what was shown really happened?
-FBI agent approached Daniel at cafe? Real, I believe
-Chinese people attend book signing? I think they were there, all actors, but maybe not
-Chinese man has Daniel sign book; gives him pen? Real, I believe. he was a hired actor.
-Daniel buries pen? I dunno. I THINK he did, because if he really did get a pen, why would he hallucinate burying it?
Mime performing in square while he buries pen? I think that was real, and was used as the hallucination source when he was in the square with the real FBI.
-Chinese agents grab Daniel and take him in van? Hmmm…maybe, maybe not. They could be hired actors, or they could be paranoid hallucinations. I could go either way.
-Apartment trashed? I think hallucination. That’s too much to fake, and then clean up. I think Daniel ‘helped’ the bad guy by hallucinating that on his own.
-Phone call from Chinese guy to Daniel, asking for a meeting? I think real, but by an actor.
Dead guy? Real dead guy, but the show forgot to give us any real info. Was he the same person that had Daniel sign his book? The show handwaved away the pertinents.
Any others?
Also, man, if I were Daniel’s friend I’d start to be getting annoyed. I don’t know how accurately the show portrays schizophrenia, but Daniel really needs to stop being such a jerk to his friends. I could handle the mania, but the assholishness I don’t think should get a pass.
I don’t think Lewicki and Geordi (Haley, but he’s always Geordi to me) are doing him any favors by manipulating the chancellor. Now Daniel thinks he is ‘right’, that the chancellor DID come crawling back to him.
Finally, what do you all think of the forged letter to the papers? Doesn’t sound very academic to me. Sounds like an unprofessional mistake.
