Percy Bysshe Shelley

I have acquired a pamphlet of 9 pages. It is titled Selections from Percy Bysshe Shelley. It is a limited edition issued by Garnier, Ostard & Cie Paris. It has been signed by Mr.Shelley. Could you possibly tell me if it is of any monetary value. Or, perhaps put me in contact with someone that could?

I’m not a book dealer, but it is definitely something of value. You need to contact an antiquarian book dealer. I’m sure someone will be along with more specific recommendations.

If the signature is legit, it is quite valuable, even if you’ve got the 19th-century equivalent of a book club edition.

I Googled the firm name ( “& Cie” means “and company”), and the only other reference I find is to a rare book.

Can you give us a fuller description?

I found an unsigned copy listed here .

A quick Googling shows Shelley autographs being auctioned starting around $1800.

I’ve been looking around on the web and have not found ANY of Shelley’s books signed by the author. So I would assume yours to be quite valuable. Here are some links for finding rare books online.

I should state, this was for a signed check. I believe signed poetry would be more desirable.

Bauman Rare Books advertises in the NY Times every week. They would probably be a good place to contact.
