Perfect scenes in movies/TV shows/plays

What?!? The best scene in all of cinema, and they cut it? Bastards!

For me, and here’s where I give up my man card, it’s a sequence of about 7 minutes in Shakespeare in Love. Will and Viola had just started their affair, and there’s a sequence of shots both on the stage at rehearsal and in Viola’s bed. The things that they say to each other in bed are used to evolve the script of Romeo and Juliet. This is all set to amazing music. It just has a dreamlike quality.

It’s the editing and the score that make it what it is.

Oh, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s tits. (Taking back my man card.)

Crappy movie but a bit of great acting… in “What women want”, when Mel Gibson confesses to Helen Hunt, she doesn’t say anything for the longest time but you can see the emotions washing over her face one right behind the other. It’s one of the most compelling bits of the quality I’ve witnessed.

The fight between Indiana Jones and the swordsman.

A seriously disturbing yet still amazingly fantastic scen from A clockwork orange. I was wondering why Melon didn’t chime in with his.

I’m singing in the rain <slap>
Just singing in the rain <kick>
What a glorious feelin’ <kick>
I’m happy again <kick kick>

and it goes on, brother!

This is my favorite scene from The Wire. There are plenty of good ones but this is my favorite. Incidentally, I’m referring to the scene with McNulty and Bodie.

The Binary Sunset in Star Wars. We really feel for Luke here, caught between his desire to leave his hum drum existence the loyalty to his family and his destiny for greater things. All in this simple scene combined with great music, just makes my skin tingle. It’s funny this one scene has more heart and emotion than all the prequels combined and without all complex CGI ILM’s computers could produce.
