Perry Mason: Closing Arguments

So I’m watching Boston Legal last night, and the great Larry Miller is a guest star, playing a lawyer who’s a little nuts. He idolizes Perry Mason and says that his favorite part of the show was when Perry closed, often pointing out the real killer in the process.

Now, I’m not saying I watched every episode, but now that I think of it, I don’t remember Perry Mason ever giving a closing. I remember that he’d call up a witness, and through the course of questioning, he’d verbally corner the real culprit and get them to admit to the crime on the stand. The show never would get to a closing statement, where the jury (or judge) was left to decide his client’s fate.

Am I wrong? Can anyone remember when PM did give a closing, or was it a common enough occurrence that I’m just really offbase?

Generally, Mason got the culprit to confess in the witness stand. There may have been episodes with a closing statement, but they were rare.
