Pest Control Advice

I need a spray to kill flying bugs, gnats & mosquitos.
It should be usable indoors, & will not ruin books, furniture, or such.
Or me.
No killing me.

Good brands, please?

I had a post started about Ortho HomeDefense, which I’ve used with pretty great success, but then re-read and noticed you’re talking about flying bugs. Ugh. That said, a quick search shows there’s an “Ortho Home Defense Flying Bug Killer with Essential Oils” which while the “essential oils” things gives me a case of the rolleyes, I did have an infestation of moths in my garage (like, an insane amount that I finally tracked to a bag of birdseed) – and one thing that worked was a spray bottle of diluted Neem oil that I used on my vegetables. A cloud of that would take them right out of the air. Smells good, I think it’s reasonably harmless though I wouldn’t try to, you know, inhale it directly. So anyway the “essential oil” spray might have something to it…

Ummm…more suggestions, please Dopers?

A few weeks back had a bunch of gnat/beetle insects flying around in the evening.

I bought the Zevo sticky trap/UV light things at WalMart and in a day or two it had attracted around 50 of those buggers.

I was skeptical at first, but it did work.

Better window screens?

I’m thinking about getting the Raid flying insect trap.

It’s basically a night light and a sticky trap.

I went with a Raid Fly Stick.
Went to the local Wally.

We use an indoor bug zapper.

Fly paper works well.

I bought two of these on Kick Starter years ago. Fun toy, particularly at a picnic, but not really a great idea inside.

Why not? As long as kids or stupid people don’t point it at other people or themselves, what’s the harm?

And according to one video of someone doing it, being shot with it on ordinary skin merely stings. Of course shooting in the eyes or other sensitive areas would be a Very Bad Idea.

I say not inside only because of the salt that will be lying around. If that doesn’t bother you, then have at it. My wife would complain a lot if there were salt crystals all over the hardwood floor and furniture.

I certainly wouldn’t want someone shooting salt all over my house.

Each shot is a tiny little bit of salt, and you can’t even notice it.

I see you’ve not met my wife…

Edited to add that the Bug A Salt only makes Hornets and Wasps mad.
