I just saw an informercial about Pest Offense, it made the same claims as the other product that was proven to be a scam. There was lawsuits and other actions on the other product…but here comes a new “Scam”. Who makes the money before the Government shuts them down? DO they stash Millions before they declare BK on this POS.
The product is Pest Offense…and the host is the retard that was hawking the miracle stick…You know, the man who sez you can lose weight by eatng airy foods.
Just wanna point out that the host has nothing to do with the products he’s hawking–he’s only an actor, paid to stand there and demonstrate products.
What’s your question, exactly? “Who makes the money before the government shuts them down?”
In the case of “electronic pest control”, I can’t find where the government DID “shut them down”. All I can find is a really very mild slap on the wrist, for one company, years ago.

Unless you’re talking about some other electronic pest control manufacturer?
I don’t see where electronic pest control was “proven to be a scam”, only that the one company was caught making “unsubstantiated claims”. There’s a difference, I think. If electronic pest control systems really had been “proven to be a scam”, then I don’t think there would be quite so many websites still selling them.
Ponzi schemes have been “proven to be a scam”, so they’re illegal and there aren’t any websites promoting them, but electronic pest control is still legal, evidently.
>> Sigh…Here we go again
Yup. A more descriptive title would have saved me from opening this thread.
Just to be The Guy Who Makes Comments Regarding Board Etiquette, let me say that it’s really better if your thread titles are descriptive of the actual question, at least in GQ. Check out the read/post ratio to this thread – it’s something around 1:50.
Last week I happened to glimpse a newsmagazine segment on mosquito control. They mentioned that there is a new product on the market that is one of the first to actually be effective in area control of Mosquitos. They specifically remarked on the worthlessness of typical ‘electronic’ mosquito repellants. Supposedly, this new device is different, and really effective. It may not use sound, but rather it might heat up some sort of repellant oil to provide a concentrated boundary of odor or something.
Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of it, and trying to search on the web just kicks up millions of sites hawking these garbage ultrasonic repellers.
Has anyone heard anything about these? The model they showed on TV sort of looked like a circular ceramic heater or something.
Found the product I was talking about. It’s called “The Mosquito Magnet”.

Apparently, it uses propane and a heater to emit plumes of CO2 which draw mosquitos in, then a vacuum device sucks them into a net where they die.
I have no idea if this thing is scientifically sound, but it looks like it might be.
I’ve changed the title. It helps to have descriptive titles.
What is the question here anyway?

The actual question is…
Ab simulators, Diet pills and in this case Electronic pest control and similar items have been proven not to live up the thier expectation. How is it that a company can be allowed to reintroduce the product again in the hopes of pulling off another snake oil Pitch?
Example:
I have developed a formula similar to “Excerise in a bottle” and " Fat Trapper" and decided to air my own informercial. It will be a matter of time until someone shuts me down. In the meantime, I made millions and paid my staff all of thier salaries. What happens to all that money?
And on a personal not: I a sorry for not abiding by the posting rules and I will be more aware in my future posting. When I saw that informercial in infuriated me.
