There is an alarming amount of “news” that quote random twitter people in the body of the article. Who cares what @SpicyGumDrop thinks about global warming? Why is a tweet from @PhatAZZ treated as a reasonable / acceptable cite for anything?
This is no different than quoting opinions of random people on the street, which has been around since news reporting began.
