One of Jack’s nursing kittens was stuck in a bed spring. I was afraid that tugging on the kitten would injure her, so I braced the spring with my hand, wielded the boltcutters with my other hand and knee, hoping that I would crush my thumb and save the kitten…to discover much to my relief with the SNAP of the cut spring that it was a compression spring DUH that moved apart when cut.
