ok, ok, ok, I ** said** I know PETA’s rep. but isn’t this really strange, even for them?
I’m looking at it as :
Tim McVeigh is the meanest lowest down critter on the face of the earth we aughtta punish him, yea, let’s not let him eat meat!
(but aren’t they really trying to get people to not eat meat???
or maybe they’re looking at it like this:
Tim McVeigh, meanest lowest down critter on the face of the earth but he’s still a human being that we aught to treat well, and try and improve his lifestyle by going meatless (improve his lifestyle?? he’s gonna die in less than two months - it’s not like he’ll be able to get any health benefit from the meatless regime.)
or is the rationale like:
Tim McVEigh may be the meanest lowest down critter on the face of the earth, but daggumm it, folks pay attention to what he does, maybe if he’s going meatless, others will to! (but, there’s really not a whole lotta folks out there talking about wanting to emulate ole’ Tim, and -{gross characterization coming up here, inflated purely for the sport of it, not intentionally inflamatory to any group} -I suspect the few that would are more into killing their food with their bare hands and eating it raw)
See what I mean??? it just doesn’t make any kind of sense, not even the twisted stuff we’ve come to know and love from PETA.
If it makes you feel better, I don’t see the point in it either. Maybe they decided they’d get better publicity out of this than they get throwing red dye on fur coats.
Personally, I think McVeigh sould be fed ground glass but I worked as a volunteer in OKC during the resuce and clean up so my views on that are tainted.
[and obviously it still upsets me enough to effect my spelling!]
That should be:
Personally, I think McVeigh should be fed ground glass but I worked as a volunteer in OKC during the rescue and clean up so my views on that are tainted.
I have actually sometimes wondered if PETA is secretly operated and funded by some far-right group, or the meat industry, or the fur industry, etc., looking to make all animal rights type groups look ridiculous. I mean, the stupid shite that PETA is always pulling, how can anyone really take them remotely seriously? PETA is so often forefront in the media, and by association, other people might start seeing all vegetarians or whatever as raving loonies, due to PETA’s high profile.
Referring to Flymaster’s post earlier on this thread “Vegetarians are people that are too insensitive to hear a carrot scream” Maybe we carnivores should start a PETV and see what PETA thinks of that!
[stupid vegetarian mode] Because by eating an animal, you are also eating all the plants that animal had to eat in order to live. So you’re “killing” vegetables no matter what you do[/stupid vegetarian mode]
Sorry to be bitchy, but I am sick of people using that “Well, broccoli is alive, too!” logic on me
For the record, I’m not anti-vegetarian, I’m anti-PETA. If you are a member of PETA, then I’m anti-you, I guess, but if you’re not in PETA, I’m perfectly fine with people of all diets and fur wearing opinions.
Flymaster, I hope there was’nt a misunderstanding. When I “referred” to your post I was in agreement with you, about the cuteness issue and all. I think PETA is crazy. My comment about carrots screaming was meant to take PETA’s “logic” even further. Who are THEY to say what is worthy of survival? I’m not making much sense, am I? Suffice it to say I am both an animal lover and a carnivore(omnivore actually) I will eat anything standing still, or even moving slowly.
