The Republican chair pretty much announced that he was going to ignore all the negative reports about him, and believe everything positive.
I proposed the unit “Gaetz” as a measure of how awful a person has to be for the Republican Senators to refuse to confirm them. I’m making the prediction now: Hegseth will end up with a rating of 0 (zero) Gaetz. Every Republican will vote in favor of his nomination.
Oh God, now Hegseth is going on about god and jebus!

There’s been two interruptions to Hegseth’s opening remarks already, both ejected quite quickly. Couldn’t make out what they were saying, but the second one looked like they were wearing all pink clothes.
And a third as I was typing!
He literally just said “Peace through strength”
“It was all a liberal smear!”
“Oh, by the way, I’ll need more money.”
And now he dodges the very first real question. He was asked about threatening emails sent to current members of the military, and he complains about the withdrawal from Afghanistan, and then complains about DEI.
“You can’t win the fight without war crimes!”
Why do they even bother with confirmation hearings?
Virtually no Republican senators have any principles. If they can confirm a credibly accused rapist to the Supreme Court and support a convicted felon as their president, they should just arrange to rubber-stamp the confirmation of whatever unqualified degenerate asshole is put in front of them.
Imagine what the hearings would look like with appointees to a Democratic administration!
“Some of them were acquitted!”

Now he’s defining “Jag-off”, reluctantly.
When did “warfighter” become a word? Did something happen to “soldier”?
Tom Cotton (R) has put those interrupting protestors on the record, but of course they’re just silly liberals, so they don’t matter. Code Pink is a Commie front!
