Peter O'Toole appreciation

Love it! And, you’re absolutely right. I adore Kate, but she’s a force of nature in that film, and O’Toole is every bit her equal on screen.

Watching The Stunt Man again. Other than Rita Hayworth in Gilda, I can’t think of a better entrance in a movie than O’Toole in the helicopter. My brother just tells me that in the book, Nina’s last name is our last name.

Hell, that is a thread. Greatest entrances in movie history.

Does the Alien from Alien count bursting out of John Hurt? Or maybe the Alien that burst out of John Hurt in Space Balls.

On the Gilda scale would include Honeychile Rider in Dr. No, Jinx (Halle Berry) in Die Another Day and Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Willy Wonka and his tumble has to make the list as does Quint and his finger nails in Jaws.

One of my favorites (minus his horrible singing) is Goodbye, Mr. Chips. When he hears of his wife’s death, his transformation is stunning.

Not so sure about Alien, it’s a monster, the first appearance of any is basically the same, “Wow, scary monster.” Although the fact that we had no clue whatsoever, well, mabye. Never would have thought about Robert Shaw, very good.

But anyway, I will create another thread.

Let’s keep this one on topic.

“I’m flesh and blood, life size no larger. I’m not that silly goddamn hero, I never was!”

“I’m not an actor, I’m a movie star!”
