I wanted to know what the alien letters on his damned T-shirt spelled out, so I went looking.
Turns out it’s in English, they just transliterated the alphabet. Here it is, in excruciating detail:
What does it say?
GEARS
SHIFT
The little molecule-like icons are labeled:
DUST
CEMENT
STONE
ASH
and at the bottom:
A TENEYCH GALAXY INVENTION
Karen TenEyck is a graphic designer for films, much of whose stuff Marvel has used.
Make of that what you will. Chris Pratt claims it’s just something from a candy bar wrapper in the GotG universe.
If it is, it reads like something only Matter_Eater Lad could eat, if he came slumming over from the DC Cinematic Universe.
Regardless of what it translates to, when I glance at the shirt, the two large words read, “YEAH BABY,” to me.
You’ve seen too much Austin Powers, I think.
I see YEHAB BECKY, myself.
Peter Quill is a rabid Taylor Swift fan and the shirt reads “Yeah Becky”.
Me too. If it’s intentional, clever! If it’s not intentional, lucky and clever!
