The holiday season has arrived, and with it the lights, trees, and other festive decorations. And also, the gentle lapping sounds we hear as our cats drink the water in the Christmas tree holder. Like most cats, ours seem compelled to drink water from any source that they can reach.
So my question is simple: Is there any danger in this, apart from conceivable mishaps involving the electrical cord?
This came up last Christmas, too. I don’t feel like asking the hamsters to overtax their little hearts and find the thread, but what I recall is that even assuming you don’t have some kind of preservative in there, still there might be bacteria in there which might give Kitty the runs, so it’s probably not a good idea.
Besides, this gives you an excuse to put a big vulgar trashy-lookin’ neon illuminated Christmas tree skirt around the thing.
