If anyone is going to Heaven, it’s Fred Rogers. The man was a role model for us all.
It is by far better to be in Hell with Mr. Rogers than in Heaven with this Phelps guy.
I love watching nutjobs like Phelps, Jack Chick, Falwell, Robertson and so forth, come out of their twisted and gnarled little shells, so they can show the entire world just how bent, burned, and broken they really are.
People like Phelps make me regret being an atheist, and wish there was a hell for people like him.
Does he really do this? Has he ever mentioned the SDMB in a flier? That would be pretty neat. I’d love for him to register too, just to debate him. Not that it would do any good, mind you, but oh, the catharsis.
As I said in an earlier post, I live in Topeka and see the Phelps clan picketing all the time. I also follow their website closely. To the best of my knowledge the SDMB has never been mentioned there. If it was I’m sure he would have mentioned it in some way. Let’s not even think about him being here. He may not know much about computers but some of the kids and grandkids do, and we don’t want a war.
Hmmm … it’s hard to figure out from that flyer precisely why Phelps thinks Mr. Rogers is burning in hell. The flyer only mentions two possibilities:
- Mr. Rogers was a Presbyterian minister, and the Presbyterian church “ordains fags & dykes” and “performs same-sex marriages”. (Phelps’ words, not mine.)
- AND/OR -
- According to Phelps, “Fag America gave him its highest award.”
Hmmm … I suppose if we really wanted to discredit Phelps, all we’d have to do is convince “Fag America” (whoever they are) to give Phelps some kind of award.
Granted, I have nothing concrete to make me think he comes here. But someone at the compound must be spending some time online, if only because their own website looks reasonably well put together, until you get to those grainy scans. I tend to think of the SDMB as a site that you’ll hit eventually, if you spend much time online.
I think one of his grandsons, Benjamin, could be doing the work. Kid got in trouble at college with what he was doing with university provided computer equipment. And I have part of a tape of a local news broadcast in which Fred proudly shows a reporter around their faxing and computer equipment, and points out two grandsons(Joshua and Samuel) whom Fred says were doing a lot of the work.
