I have heard for years that Phil Collins is an antisemite and a racist. I have heard everything from that he supports the Nazi party, to someone who heard from a friend who was at concert in Australia that Collins asked all Jews and blacks to leave.
I have never been able to find anything on the web or elsewhere to confirm or disprove this.
Does anyone have more information?
I realized that I hadn’t searched the net for information on this since Google put the Usenet archives back up on their site.
I looked through their archives and found a number of threads which mentioned that the rumour about Phil Collins’ racism comes from a misinterpreted remark at an awards show in 1993.
But I recall hearing as early as 1989 that Collins was antisemitic, so I doubt this is the true origin.
Anyone have any further info?
Ehhh I really really don’t believe the FOAF thing about the concert in Australia. We’ve got a Human Rights Commission who would be all over anyone who did that.

FOAF=“friend of a friend,” I believe. That’s how urban legends are spread - someone tells a story that happened to a “friend of a friend,” then whoever hears it tells it the same way.

I tried to start a similar thread a few months ago, but it was in the afternoon, the board was slow, and I didn’t have time. I’ve also heard these rumors about Collins, and have never found anything to prove or disprove the rumors.
