Like him or hate him, this is devastating news for the Mickelsonfamily
Hopefully it was diagnosed early enough for a full and complete recovery.

Hang in there, Amy. This isn’t your grandmother’s breast cancer. Medicine and technology have come a long way.
Of course, the life is the most important thing, but could you, as a woman (I presume) imagine life without your mammaries? I’m not sure how I’d feel, being rescued from death at the cost of a significant body part or two. I have much sympathy for her.
I feel lucky that I was able to have a lumpectomy. Many women, after getting diagnosed with breast cancer, have no problem telling their doctor “Slice 'em off.” Plus, with the advances in plastic surgery, doctors can do a tummy tuck and use that to rebuild the Ladies.
