My son and I will be in Phoenix near the airport area for a couple of days and will have an open evening. My son is heading to college there and we are going to be attending an orientation and tour during the day. Any thoughts on what to see or do in the evening? He isn’t into watching a baseball game, so we’ll skip the Diamondbacks game. It looks like there is a park near the river that might be interesting to see or maybe the zoo, but he is a bit old for a zoo.
Hike up Camelback Mountain for some nice views.

Y’never too old for the zoo! And the Phoenix Zoo is a pip! It’s a real delight, and I’ve driven out there to visit it three times…and hanker to do again. They have a section dedicated to local wildlife – coyote, bobcat, cougar, peccary, etc. – that’s particularly nifty, but just about the whole place is top-notch. (If you like zoos!)
The state capitol building, and memorial garden, is a fun little visit.
The date would help.
Will you have a car? What kind of food do you like?
We’ll have a car and it will be early June.
Well, if you are here on the first Friday of the month, there is a nice street fair called (unsurprisingly) First Fridays.
I can’t recommend http://gadzooksaz.com highly enough.
If you do go hiking, remember shade, sunscreen, early in the morning, and bring enough water.
What do you all enjoy doing?
