Phone Plan "Secret"?

I have had my T-Mobile phone family plan for several years now, and about two or three years ago, changed up to a family (my SO and I) plan to 700 minutes talk time.
As my SO talks quite a bit with his family in Germany, I wanted to see about extending the minutes.
I see there is a 1000 minute plan, or an unlimited plan.
I asked to compare prices to both plans to what I am currently now paying.

It seems the 1000 minute plan is exactly, to the penny, what I am now paying! An extra 5 hours talk time per month at no extra cost to me…but nobody bothered to mention this.
You would think they might have let me know they now have this, and have had it, for quite some time.

Needless to say, I opted for this “new” 1000 minute plan (for same cost).
If I want to spend an additional $20 month, I can go for unlimited (which I might do), but will try out the 1000 minutes to see how that flies.

The point of this is: If you haven’t compared prices of your current phone plan recently, you might want to see if you are getting the best bang for your buck.

Does your plan include calls overseas or do you use a VoIP like Rebtel for the calls to Germany? I’m curious because I’d like to get rid of our landline completely as it is currently used only for international calls.

T-Mobile has a plan ($15 per cell phone = $30/mo for both of us), but we use Skype Worldwide Unlimited which costs $14/month and is unlimited for both of our cell phones.
So, on top of our monthly T-Mobile bill, I just pay Skype the extra $14/mo and my SO and I can yap away happily to Germany for hours on our cell phones. I can also call friends in New Zealand and you can call most (but not all) international countries at no extra charge.
